Our Love Affair: Expanding the Heart of Raqs Sharqi
Join us in Miami for an immersive 3-day intensive with Mohanned Hawaz & Esraa Warda, centered on the ancestral pathways of Raqs Sharqi through Iraqi and Algerian dance traditions.
This weekend is an invitation to return to the source. Beyond steps and technique, you’ll explore the cultural memory held within the movement—how rhythm, musical structure, and embodied presence shape expression, emotion, and storytelling. Through guided study, you’ll deepen your understanding of how music informs the dancer’s voice and how tradition lives within contemporary practice.
Participants will receive focused coaching to refine artistry, strengthen musical interpretation, and cultivate authenticity in performance. Together, we gather as an international community of dancers committed to learning, listening, and growing through shared experience.
Join us for a weekend of connection, lineage, and artistic expansion with Mohanned Hawaz & Esraa Warda at Love Affair 2026.
Your experience includes 13 hours of in-depth workshops, a thoughtful panel discussion, an opening night show, and a closing gala with live music. A complete journey that brings learning, dialogue, and celebration together.
Secure your place and be part of this intentional journey.

Esraa Warda
A New York–based Algerian-American dance artist and educator, Esraa is devoted to reviving Algeria’s cultural memory through movement. Merging artistry and activism, she treats her body as a living archive—embodying a decolonial, liberated tradition. Inspired by the communal roots of North African dances, where movement is transmitted through shared experience rather than formal instruction, she explores how this ancestral method can reshape and rehumanize dance education today.
